Recreation

The Lord has entrusted us with 51 acres of land which we long for our church family and community to enjoy.  There are three playgrounds, numerous walking trails, a river observation deck from which you can fish in the Saluda river, basketball and volleyball courts, an outdoor exercise room, 4 soccer fields and one baseball field.  We are the host church for SOAR, a sports league for all ages that provides clean, family and faith oriented coaching and athletic opportunities.  

SOAR

S.O.A.R (Sports, Outreach, Arts & Recreation) is a ministry begun by Christ Covenant Church (PCA) in Matthews, NC and adopted in 1999 by a group of Cornerstone visionaries passionate about making a positive difference in the lives of the children and families of their community through sports. Volunteers generously gave many hours of labor and resources to build sports fields. Over 20 churches are represented on the sports fields of SOAR.  The exciting launch of the SOAR leagues took place in the fall of 1999 with 200 children, coaches and parents.

Now, almost two decades later, SOAR has expanded to include around 600 players each season participating in soccer, baseball, softball, and other sports played on an 18 acre Sports Complex. SOAR has opportunities for both youth and adults, including an evening adult soccer league which is popular among both national and internationals.  SOAR continues to grow!  

It is through the committed efforts of volunteers and with the generous support of a church family, SOAR became what it is today: A place where families have fun, make new friends and practice good sportsmanship.

Our facilities

Over the years the members of Cornerstone have transformed the campus to provide every generation ways to stay active and enjoy God's good creation.  We have indoor and outdoor exercise areas for every age and ability.  Fields and walking paths are open during office hours and SOAR events.  The river front observation deck access is open during special events including our monthly Men's Breakfast.
